Save or Splurge: Haircuts

I have a lot of friends who cut their hair themselves. They usually look pretty cute. I also have several friends who stop in any quick, cheap haircut place for a cut. I've only seen a few problems with those cuts. However, I have trust issues when it comes to my hair.

I need several recommendations for a stylist before I try them. They have to work at a good salon (not a super pricey one, but one with a good reputation). My current stylist is a friend I've known for years, and her sister has very similar hair to mine. She knows how to cut curly hair and she never cuts off more hair than I ask.

It's not a super splurge, but I usually spend around $30-$35 for a haircut. It's more than worth it for me. Do you save or splurge on haircuts?

I definitely splurge, relative to my budget. After a year of natural, I finally managed to stomach the price of highlights for an appointment next week. For this price, these better be the best pieces of light hair I've ever SEEN. :)

I cut my own and have my mom trim the back, but now I want a stylish, modern cut. I'm thinking of going to the salon for the big chop and maintaining it myself.

i cut it myself! once a year or so i'll have a salon put in a few layers so it's not so heavy in back, at $35. but i can't stand paying for what i can do myself. i put it in pigtails, snip the ends off with a little bit of an angle (hopefully the right way?) and voila. of course mine's curlyish and that helps. and i also couldn't care less about having the right haircut ;) which is important to some!

I splurge a bit. But only because I went to a cheap place and they did a horrid job. After that fiasco finally grew out, I've been much more particular about who cuts my hair.

Splurge. It's definitely worth it to me because splurging is the only way I can have a decent wash-and-wear style.

I used to splurge ($120 a cut!) but have since switched to an Aveda-trained friend who does my hair in her kitchen for $20 and she does a great job!

splurge! $50-60 for a cut with nice layers and with a stylist who doesn't want to chop off all my long hair.

I wouldn't say it's a big splurge, but I spend $37 to get my hair cut. I love and trust my stylist and won't go to anyone else!

I just called the salon, and for $32 they'll cut my hair, touch up my makeup and give me a facial massage. Win!
