Love or Loathe: Formal Shorts
If you love Go Fug Yourself as much as we do, you know the Fug Girls hate formal shorts. I'm not convinced, though. I've seen enough women moving awkwardly in little party dresses to know that the familiar comfort of shorts would lead to a more enjoyable evening for many. My favorite incarnation of this style is the loose black sequin short like the pair pictured from Express. I think as long as your formal shorts aren't hot pants, you can party away. What do you think?

1. The most important, the absolute must, is to make sure the shorts are loose and ~mid thigh length. If they are tight or are too short, they look slutty and stupid. If they are too long, it looks too baggy. If they are loose, hit around mid-thigh and hangs well, they look casual and chic.
2. For those of us not size 0 ladies, don't get the solid color ones without butt pocket, my experience is jeans/pants/shorts with no butt pocket make your butt look big, unless that's what you want.
Here are examples of it being worn well:

-my outfit, it's not formal shorts, but that's the length and looseness I was talking about. I'm size 14 and have normal length legs, and it doesn't make me look that fat I think: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v508/sparklycrystal/outfit.jpg
Since I don't really do mini skirts, this would be a great alternative for me.
I don't know if they do it every year, but Express had satin-y silk short, one with butt pockets and one without, in champagne and in wine color, for ~$20 on sale in Aug. I had it in my shopping basket, and lost it right before payment cuz someone else bought the last pair before me. =(
I think they are the style you are looking for, but not black.
