$150 Challenge: 500 Days of Spring
This week the sun has been shining, the flowers have been blooming and I've started unearthing my spring clothing. Sadly, my spring/summer wardrobe need a bit more updating than I can afford. It could use a few versatile, quality pieces ($$$) to work with some of the more inexpensive or trendy items I have. Also, I've been craving some pieces inspired by (500) Days of Summer since I've watched the DVD with friends three time in the last three weeks. This look gets me my spring staples and inspiration for around $150:
Classic, lightweight dress pants can be the cornerstone of spring dressing (since the wind is a little troublesome for skirts right now). These will carry you through work, weekends, and even make a nice day to night look if you're dining on a swanky restaurant patio after work. (High Waist Pants, Newport New $29). The feminine cardigan will keep you warm in air conditioned offices and cool evening breezes. It will also help you transform a sundress into work wear and a summer tank top into acceptable springtime wear (Applique Cardigan, Old Navy $26.50). A pop of color makes any outfit more cheerful. This bright pink draped tank can go from the office to a picnic to a night on the town to a lazy day in the backyard. It has that perfect mix of casual and chic (Draped Jersey Tank, TheOutnet $34.30).
New accessories can make every spring look seem as fresh as the air. If you're going to invest in a new everyday flat, make it a comfortable one. Simple, cutout suede flats will be soft and not too warm for the changing seasons (Cutout Flat, American Eagle $29.50). A simple straw bag will keep the load light now that you'll be packing extra sunscreen and sunglasses (Magid Wood Handle Tote, eBags $32).
The entire wardrobe warm up costs $151.30.
