Book Review: The Style Strategy
Specs: The Style Strategy: A Less-Is-More Approach to Staying Chic and Shopping Smart written by Nina Garcia; illustrated by Ruben Toledo. Published in 2009 by Haper Collins. $17.48 new
Pros: Like Nina Garcia's two previous books, this book is full of fun fashion facts, cheeky illustrations and fashionable quotes. With this book, Nina creates the ultimate guide to attaining and maintaining an affordable, stylish wardrobe with tips on when to spend, when to save and how to pamper yourself.
Cons: None really.
Favorite Tidbits: Nina stresses the importance of buying good shoes. She also gives tips on how to revive and reinvent old clothing, how to care for your clothes, how to add personal and unique touches to classic styles, and how to avoid poor purchases that will only drag down your wardrobe. She also tells us to go shopping with our friends and pamper ourselves with affordable buys like drug store cosmetics and a swap meet to share accessories with friends. She even has good financial advice like "buy what you can afford" and "save for expensive classics to build a good wardrobe."
