New York Fashion Week FW 2011: Y-3, Jason Wu, Christian Siriano
Who: Y-3
What it made us think of: If space is the final frontier, these are the clothes for exploring it.
What we liked: Polka dots, edgy sportswear look, Yohji Yamamoto's signature style showing through more than last season, cozy sweatshirt material looks
What we didn't: A little redundant at times Who: Jason Wu
What it made us think of: A lesson in how to reference period costume (baroque in this case) while staying current and not looking like you're actually wearing a costume
What we liked: Lace, frills, sparkles, skirts, pretty gowns, styling, menswear pieces mixing well in a ladylike collection
What we didn't: --- Who: Christian Siriano
What it made us think of: An improvement on last season
What we liked: The beginning pieces in black with lots of texture edge and wearable items, wide leg pants, the shoes, the jackets
What we didn't: The shiny dresses with awkward gathering. The simple draping, because Christian can do better.
