Product Review: Burt's Bees Sensitive Skin Moisturizer
I recently got the chance* to try Burt's Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream. I've wanted to try Burt's Bees products for a long time, but I'm allergic to many of the natural ingredients in their products. Thankfully, they recently released a line of snsitive skin products. I can't use everything in the line, but I can use most of it. Since I have a very limited number of products I can use, I'm happy to find an alternative.
First Impressions: I like the pump dispenser for the moisturizer. It's quick, easy to use, and, unlike my current moisturizer, I don't have to shake the bottle to extract the product only to have too much of it come out. I'm not crazy about the scent of the products. It's unscented so it doesn't smell great, but there is no lasting scent after you put it on so it's not a big deal. There is no sunscreen in the cream. That may seem like a downside, but I'm allergic to sunscreen. A lot of people with sensitive skin are sensitive to sunscreens so I'm really glad Burt's Bees left it out. This cream is a lot thicker than any moisturizer I've used before, which threw my off at first. I can buy more at Target so I won't be making special trips if I add this to my daily routine.
Lasting Impressions: I still like the pump. I don't notice the scent after a few days of use. The fact that the cream is so thick was almost a deal breaker. In fact, it means I won't be using this in the summer. I just prefer something lighter. However, after taking an hour long walk and a chilly day, I couldn't wait to get home and put this on. It is so soothing and rich. I love the idea of using it to prevent chapped skin and soothe my skin while battling the harsh winter days to come. It offers a lot more moisturizing power than my lighter moisturizer, and the thickness feels nice on a cold day--kind of like a cuddly cotton sweater for my face (there's cotton extract in it).
The Details: Burt's Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream costs $14.99 and is available at mass retailers like Target, Walmart, grocery and drug stores. The Sensitive Skin product line also includes a facial cleanser, eye cream and night cream ranging in price from $9.99 to $14.99. The products are all fragrance free, hypo-allergenic, 99% natural, dermatologist- and allergy-tested, and featuring cotton extract to "soften and replenish skin's outer layer." Visit Burt's Bees website or "Like" them on Facebook for a $2 off coupon on the sensitive skin products.
