Dress The 2012 Emmy Nominee
Zooey Deschanel's been struggling to make sure people know she is not Jess from The New Girl. She has a bright retro style but struggles sometimes to dress sophisticated instead of twee. Monique Lhuillier's orange textured gown would be lovely on her petite frame. For a more grown up look, the retro lines on this Prabal Gurung cocktail dress is an absolute winner. Plus, that green with her hair and skin! Amazing!
Mayim Bialik (Yes, Blossom! She was nominated for The Big Bang Theory, which becca loves.) favors dark hues for the red carpet, and she's been hit and miss with fit. She doesn't exactly care for sexing it up. If she wants to stay safe with color, this sequin trimmed Naeem Khan has plenty of shape without really being a sexy dress. But if she branches into color, Stephane Rolland's pale blue gown with black ruffles and a geode belt is very adult and chic.
Kristen Wiig isn't afraid of looking sexy, but she is afraid of color. I'd love to see her in this plunging emerald leopard Gucci. Sass + Bide's neon beaded dress is half not-color and has a sexy slit in the front. Can't you just picture it with silver platforms and a thick braid?
Cat Deeley is the charming host of So You Think You Can Dance? I really like her. She seems to have a nice, easy-going personality and she's not afraid to take fashion risks. Cat's really tall and favors cocktail dresses that showcase her amazing legs. This green Gucci looks like a dress to shimmy in. Who better to wear it? Yes, it's a little silly-fun, but Viktor & Rolf's cotton candy 80s dress would be so fun with a 60s bouffant.
Christina Hendricks gets walloped by fashion critics every year, and I feel she's now their favorite punching bag. For a reprieve, she should play up her curves. Zac Posen is a friend to the curvy, and this red number would be a stunner with her red hair. The sequin lines on this mermaid gown by Zuhair Murad would accentuate her perfectly. Just get the ladies reigned in properly.
The 64th Emmy Awards are this Sunday on ABC. Next week you can vote on my choices versus what these ladies really wore, and we'll share our favorite looks of the night.
